Somebody Save Me

"Faster than a speeding bullet!
More powerful than a locomotive!
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!
Look, up in the sky!
Its a bird!
Its a plane!
Its SUPERMAN
"

OK, so he doesn't fly. Yet. But he IS shown to be faster than a speeding bullet. Don't know about being more powerful than a locomotive, but certainly more powerful than a city bus.

Ok, I admit it. I like Smallville. I didn't want to. Honest. I've been insulting it for YEARS. Saying that its silly, juvenile. That its, gasp, not Superman!

Well...dammit. I was wrong. I don't want to be wrong. But I blazed through the first season in a week and IMMEDIATLY went out to buy the second. I'm almost done that one now.

The show's pretty good. I mean, its a nice mix of superpowers, soap opera, and weird mystery. And the writing's actually pretty consistently good. I've been looking over synopsese of future episoes beyond season 2, and it looks pretty solid overall.

Going to buy Season 3 tomorrow. Chances are high that I'll have watched all 5 season on DVD in time for season 6 to come out in September. I really can't believe I'm doing this.

I haven't followed a show on DVD this obsessivly since...well...err...

...Farscape, to be honest. Wow.

Anyway...yeah. This is pretty good stuff. Major apologies to JasonK for ever doubting him.

I was the same with Smallville for a while until I started watching it and then got sucked into the plot and whatnot and am now in love with it. My only qualm so far is Clark. He's very 2-D so far and the supporting cast sure as hell has a bit more dimension to them 'cause they're not as bound up in the expectation of Clark turning into the superman we all know and love/hate. The Lana/Lex dynamic will be very interesting as well as Brainiac being a canker sore for everyone involved. Btw it's Frank :p
